APICELLA

Apicella are named after Sue Apicella, the vocal and focal frontperson, with the vocal raunchiness of Bessie Smith. Apicella have played many festivals including Tichfield's "Blues at the Abbey" (supporting Otis Grand), and Southsea Folk and Roots Festival. Paul Horton is a sensitive, but strong guitarist. Paul plays gut strung acoustic, and often contributes vocals to the band. Trevor Thwaites performed as half of acoustic duo Chuggabug, in Lincolnshire. Since moving to Portsmouth he has guested with countless local artistes, playing harmonica, guitar and mandolin. Peetah, a.k.a. Lord Gnome Of Broadstairs, has performed on jews harp with The Hot Tamales at many festivals, and guested with several top performers, including Country Joe MacDonald, Mike West & Myshkin, The Lonnigans, Bob Hall Band, King Rollo, and Jason Ringenberg of Jason & The Scorchers.
