Great unbelievably young folk rock band, with an average age 18, very similar to Fairport Convention in style, featuring stunningly talented lead singer Lucy Rutherford on vocals, Dave Newey on guitars and vocals, Chris Hopgood on guitars and vocals, Simon Phillips on fiddle, Ben Smith on bass, Russell Brooks on drums and percussion.

Arlen are a group of young musicians, who came together with the collected interest of playing folk music in the century; folk music which will appeal to young and old alike. Arlen display a flair for their music prompted by their enjoyment of it!

Bringing together influences from as wide ranging places as Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, Hendrix, Dylan, and many contemporary artists such as Show of Hands, Kate Rusby and Ezio, they place all this in a melting pot, and with the use of internal songwriting skills,traditional songs,and many sets of tunes, as well as the odd interpretation of lesser known song by others.

Arlen create a rich texture in their music, bringing together a wide range of instruments, and placing on top of the whole mix the vibrant, passionate vocals of Lucy Rutherford, interpreting this music in a new light. On cd they are good, but live is where this band like to be; continuing the tradition of this music; and certainly putting the rock back into folk.
