Peter Mulvey has a startlingly unique guitar style (imagine the kind of
guitarist that would come into being if Leo Kottke, Ani DiFranco, and Dave
Matthews had a child together), a smooth, husky voice, and an astounding
sense of lyricism, and has quickly proved himself to be a standout in the new
hard-edged acoustic wave. Barely a year after hitting the subways, he won the
Boston Acoustic Underground Competition and The Boston Herald raved:
>
> "He simply blew away the competition. A year of performance has turned him
> into a magician. In twelve minutes, he blended wit, passion, a clear voice,

Since his win, Peter has gone on to record three intense, critically
acclaimed albums (Rapture, Deep Blue, and a live CD, Glencree, recorded while
on tour in Ireland), all the while building a strong following of fiercely
dedicated fans (his website garners an average of 2500 hits per week).
Touring virtually non-stop (over 150 shows per year), Peter has played some
of the most prestigious venues in the US and the UK , both solo and with
artists such as Richard Thompson, 10,000 Maniacs, David Lindley, Chris
Smither, and Emmylou Harris. His new album, THE TROUBLE WITH POETS was
recorded in just nine intensive days, The album is guaranteed to turn heads,
drop jaws, and bring Peter's music to an exponentially wider audience. "I
have no objection to becoming a star," says Mulvey. "If it happens - great.
If it doesn't, no problem"
