Change of Lineup for Thursdays Bullfrog Blues Club

Bad news - Marcus Malone, who was due to play at The Bullfrog Blues Club  at
The Dockyard Club (DYC), Onslow Rd, Southsea, PO5 2NH  this Thursday, 7th
September, was rushed to hospital suffering with heart failure. He's been
referred to a cardiologist and is awaiting results. I'm sure we all wish
him well, and hope he makes a swift and total recovery. My wife was
recently admitted to hospital her in Ireland with heart failure, and is now
back to good health after around 10 days in hospital, so I'm anticipating
that Marcus will be rarin' to go once his treatment has finished.  I'll
ensure that once Marcus feels well enough to perform again we'll book him
again at the soonest opportunity.

Now some GOOD news - an old friend of The Bullfrog Blues Club has stepped in
at the last minute to cover the gig. -the incomparable GWYN ASHTON!!!

Gwyn has a pedigree as long as your arm.... he's  recorded with members of
Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Robert Plant and Rory Gallagher's bands and many
more.

Gwyn's appeared on many occasions  at The Bullfrog, but his absence of late
has been due to the fact he'd  returned to his native Australia, so we've
been unable to book him, but now he's back!

Locked down in Adelaide during the pandemic, Gwyn put the time to good use,
and recorded  a massive 110 brand new songs.  The first album to come out
of these sessions - "Mojosoul"  - hit the streets in May this year, and has
received rave revews.

'Mojosoul' is  a red hot new contemporary swamp blues rock album and is
Gwyn's  10th album release, nd celebrates his 50th anniversary of playing
guitar. On the album  he's traded in his well-worn 1963 Fender Stratocaster
to play bottleneck slide on a vintage 1930 National Triolian, open-tuned
Gretsch Rancher 12-string, a D28 Martin and a 1962 Harmony H-75.
Here's just some of the international album reviews and accolades....

"Some of the best moments of his career."   - 'Classic Rock' Magazine (UK)

"Ashton is right at home with this emotive, moving and bare-bones release."
-  'Power Play Rock and Metal' (UK)
