We're really looking forward to THE DYLAN & THE DEAD convention which will
be held over Easter Weekend (Good Friday to Easter Sunday) at The Dockyard
Club, Onslow Road, Southsea, Portsmouth, PO5 2NH.

Here's whats' happening:
The weekend features a host of fine performers, and a superb "all weekend"
record fair featuring not just many rare and hard to find items - lots of
ultra rare Bob Dylan items in particular!
On Good Friday April 7th we kick off in fine style when doors open at 6
p.m.
Opening the evening's proceedings will be the top class country blues duo
SONS OF THE DELTA, who appear the night before at the Bullfrog Blues Club,
but will be playing a different set!
After that, Woodstock legend BARRY "THE FISH" MELTON -co-founder of Country
Joe & The Fish- will al be talking about his collaboration and friendship
with Robert Hunter who was not only the lyricist for The Grateful Dead but
occasionally Bob Dylan & Barry Melton! There will be Question and answer
session, and the whole shebang will be presided over by West Coast 60's
expert Ross Hannan
After this DEAD CALM - Theresa Sanders & Colin Goble - will be appearing
with a set of Dylan and the Dead material on guitar and accordion, a la
Garth Hudson!
The headliner is BARRY "THE FISH" MELTON - who will be joined by STEPHANE
MISSRI from Paris, who collaborates with Barry in their Paris based band
JAMASUTRA. Stephane is a genius banjo player, guitarist and singer.
On Saturday afternoon April 8th doors open at 12 noon
Opening the proceedings will be a rare reunion of REET PETITE - Dave Allen
& Denis Reeve-Baker, 50% of Country Joe McDonald's backing band REET PETITE
& GONE on his 2001 tour.
They will be joined by friends including the excellent bass player Dave
Jordan.
Following them, there will be a multi media production from noted Dylan
author CHRIS GREGORY, whose recent book "Determined To Stand" has received
rave reviews from the Dylan cognoscenti.
Next up will be the excellent Portsmouth based blues singer/guitarist with
a difference, the one and only KING ROLLO.
The headliners will be THE BARRY "THE FISH" MELTON BAND, with a stellar
line-up including STEVE BROWNING (ex PRETTY THINGS and at present a member
of the superb Portsmouth based blues band TEED UP) ), ROB BECKINSALE & MATT
WHEATLEY.
These guys are top class players, and have toured extensively backing many
West Coast legends including It's A Beautiful Day, Greg Douglass from The
Steve Miller band, and The Aguilar Blumenfeld Project, with Dave Aguilar of
Big Brother & The Holding Company and Roy Blumenfeld, founder and present
member of Al Kooper's Blues Project.
The afternoon's music ends at 6 p.m, but doors reopen at 8 p.m on Saturday
evening for THE TERRAPINS - one of the best Grateful Dead tributes in
Europe. They'll be on stage at 8.30.p.m sharp and will finish at around
11.15 pm to in order to perform a mammoth Grateful Dead set (with a few
Dylan songs) - no time for a support!
On Sunday afternoon once again doors open at 12 noon
DEAD CALM are back with another set of Dylan and the Dead material on guitar
and accordion
ANDY BROAD - Portsmouth's very own King Of The Blues and Bullfrog Blues Club
kingpin - followsn, with a set that includes the blues influences of
Dylan and the Dead
Psych folk rockers MARY JANE then appear with special guest KEV ELLIS on
harmonica, for something completely different that will get you up on your
feet!
Headlining the afternoon is a the much anticipated st of PLEASANTVILLE,
,featuring The Bullfrog Blues Club's very own Dan Ogus They'll be
performing a set which will include material from Dylan, The Band & The
Travelling Wilburys, and much, much more. .
This great afternoon's entertainment will finish at 6.p.m, and doors reopen
at 8 p.m for an evening in the company of top Bob Dylan tribute MILLION
DOLLAR BASH, with a great set of music from the pen of Bob Dylan and The
Band. Once again, no time for a support!!
