It's a double header this month at The Bullfrog Blues Club in Southsea when on Thursday 6th September we're pleased to present the eagerly anticipated return of RUBY AND THE REVELATORS and the ever popular KING ROLLO. RUBY AND THE REVELATORS have been described by "Blues Matters" magazine as a `must see live act on the British Blues Scene'. This fine five piece band are renowned for their scintillating stage performances and have appeared at many high profile blues festivals in the UK, including Boogaloo Blues Weekender, Blues On The Farm, Cambridge Rock & Blues Festival and Swanage Blues Festival. Drawing on a rich seam of musical influences from blues, r n b, soul, jazz and funk, Ruby & The Revelators are proving to be a unique and very popular band on the blues scene. They perform a refreshingly unique set, combining imaginative interpretations of classic blues songs -dismissing the obvious in favour of lesser known gems -as well as showcasing their original compositions. Referred to as "pocket dynamite" singer Olivia Stevens (aka Ruby Tiger) is renowned for her effervescent and magnetic stage presence and her passionate delivery. Her voice has developed into a powerfully smoky and gravelly, yet sweet instrument. Ruby knows how to place her heart within the material, and draw on her life experiences to deliver the emotion that sits at the centre of a song. In the words of the legendary Geno Washington...
