Southsea's Bullfrog Blues Club have pulled of a coup, as November's gig (Thursday 2nd November) features the return of the legendary Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes. Paul Lamb has carved out a three-decade career as a premiere blues harmonica virtuoso and bandleader, and has toured extensively around the world, gaining a devoted following. . Born in Newcastle in 1955, Paul became a blues enthusiast as a boy and began mastering the harmonica. Paul's inspiration came from an original source, the legendary Sonny Terry. By 15 Paul was playing in clubs and actually managed to spend some time working with Terry himself, late in Sonny's career. Paul has also played with such legends as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Brownie McGhee. By the 1980s Paul had formed his own band, originally called the Blues Burglars, who soon evolved into Paul Lamb & the King Snakes. Landing a contract with Ace Records in the early '90s, they released a self-titled debut CD, followed by numerous albums over the years. Paul was awarded with the British Blues Connection's annual award " best harmonica player" for several years in a row whilst the King Snakes took the "best band" title . Paul even had a hit in 1994 in the UK Singles Chart with the track, "Harmonica Man" (under the pseudonym of Bravado) with Pete Waterman, and he's also worked with Mark Knopfler, The Who and Rod Stewart, played on BBC and film soundtracks, and various television commercials. Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes' new album "Live At The Royal Albert Hall" prompted "Blues Matters" magazine to write "If it doesn't get an award for best true blues album it would be unfair- a blues album at its finest by one of the best bands in blues, whether in Europe or the U.S.A. ". DON'T miss this unique opportunity to see a living legend! Paul Lamb & The Kingsnakes appear at The Bullfrog Blues Club at The Dockyard Club, Onslow Rd, Southsea, PO5 2NH on Thursday 2ndNovember.
