I'm pleased to say SAM KELLY'S STATION HOUSE are back at The Bullfrog Blues Club at The Dockyard Club), Onslow Rd, Southsea, PO5 2NH. on THURSDAY FEBRUARY 2nd - I'm coming over from Ireland for this one! Originating from London's Station Tavern in the early nineties, the unique sound of SAM KELLY'S STATION HOUSE is influenced by New Orleans second line, soul, jazz, calypso, reggae and British funk. With three `lead' singers supported by a percussionist and an internationally acclaimed drummer, the result is an eclectic fusion of music with its roots firmly based in the blues. And what a pedigree these guys all have! During 2016, SAM KELLY'S STATION HOUSE performed at The Top Secret Blues Festival in Scarborough, The Grainstore Brewery Beer Festival and Blues on The Farm Festival in Chichester. They formed the House Band for Paul Jones' Charity Events at Cranleigh Arts Centre on two occasions, performing in 2012 with Paul Jones, Imelda May, Robben Ford, Chris Barber, Andy Fairweather Low, Mike Sanchez and in 2015 with Paul Jones, Bernie Marsden, Laurence Jones, Reuben Richards, Noel McCalla, Katie Bradley & Dudley Ross, Kyla Brox & Danny Blomeley, Debbie Giles and Charlie Wood. SAM KELLY has been the drummer for Dr. John, Chaka Khan, Eddie Floyd, Robert Plant, Roger Chapman, Michelle Shocked and the late, great Gary Moore. Sam played drums on Gary's last R&B album "Bad For You Baby". Sam has also been honoured in "Blues in Britain's Gallery of Greats" after winning their UK Drummer Of The Year award for five years running. PAUL JOBSON is the band's keyboard player, and also an accomplished bass player and drummer. Paul's toured with Big Joe Turner, Mojo Buford and Michael Roach and, with The Big Chiefs, he supported Zigaboo Modeliste. on his UK/European tour 2013/2014. He has played alongside Chaka Khan, Earl Green, Hamish Stewart, Linda Lewis, Joss Stone, and was recently invited to jam with Larry Graham.. Paul also plays with Dr JJ's Blues Band, The UK Funk All Stars and Fowokan, as well as running his own band Cut the Funk. TONY QUNTA has over 20 years in the business, and has worked with artists such as Odyssey, Grace Kennedy and Johnny Mars, Edgar Winter, and Chick Corea's drummer, Tom Brechtlein. Tony is featured vocalist on Paul Hardcastle's `Jazz Masters' albums. Like Paul Jobson, and Jerome Marcus he was also part of The Big Chiefs, supporting Zigaboo Modeliste on UK and European tours. RICHARD SADLER was a founding member of the Neil Cowley Trio and recorded the first three albums and toured extensively with the trio, contributing to the writing and arranging. In 2006, they were presented with a BBC Jazz Award and appeared on `Later with Jools Holland' .He has worked as a studio session musician for Ray Davies of The Kinks, Paul Weller, and Tom Jones. He's played at many big festivals including Glastonbury, The Big Chill and London Jazz Festival, and at major venues including The Queen Elizabeth Hall and Ronnie Scott's. JEROME MARCUS is the band's percussionist . His vast experience includes work with Johnny Mars, Steve Simpson, Steve Waller and Rory Gallagher. He has sessioned and performed live with Boz Burrell of Bad Company, Big Jim Sullivan , Mary Wilson, Wang Chung, Kool & the Gang, Hot Chocolate and Uriah Heep . Jerome also supported Zigaboo Modeliste on UK and European tours as part Of The Big Chiefs.
