This Thursday [7th January] at The Bullfrog Blues Club we start ioff our 2016 gigs with a bang, as we're welcoming back the extraordinary Stompin' Dave Allen accompanied on this occasion by the award winning blues drummer Sam Kelly for an unmissable musical extravaganza! Described by Maverick Magazine as "one of the world's greatest performers." Stompin' Dave is a vocalist, multi instrumentalist and dancer, and has worked exclusively as a musician since 2000. He's performed across the UK and beyond, at bluegrass, blues, country, folk, rock n roll and old-time music festivals including major festivals such as Glastonbury. A former member of former UK blues band of the year The Producers, Stompin' Dave was nominated for a British Blues Award in the acoustic act category 2014. Although Dave mainly performs solo he does from time to time perform as a duo with a variety of friends and with various acts including with drummer extraordinaire Sam Kelly. Sam also currently drumming with Cymande, Papa George Band, Geoff Achison and the UK Souldiggers, Chuck Farley, Giles Hedley and the Aviators, Serious Blues and Connie Lush. Early in 2008, Sam went into the studio to record the rhythm tracks for the late great, Gary Moore's last R&B album, `Bad For you Baby'. He also joined Gary's band for a 10-date tour in Germany. Over the years Sam has worked with Chaka Khan, Dr John, Ben E. King, Robert Plant, The Foundations, Gordon Haskell, Billy Ocean, Desmond Dekker, Eddie Floyd, Roger Chapman, Michelle Shocked, Stan Webb, Gary Moore and OtisTaylor to name but a few., and recently with Mick Ralphs, Paul Jones, Imelda May, Robben Ford, Andy Fairweather Low and Chris Barber.
