We're delighted to welcome Red Butler back to The Bullfrog Blues Club at The Dockyard Club, Onslow Road, Southsea this Thursday, 3rd December. The icing on the cake is that Ruby and The Revelators are supporting! Ruby's blessed with a voice that can be mellow; gutsy; or sweet and soulful. She writes good original material too! Tickets available online from http://webplus.barkingspider.abelgratis.com/tickets/ Red Butler were formed by guitarist Alex Butler in April 2012, when he was just 18. The band feature Alex with Jane Pearce (vocals), Charlie Simpson (drums), and Mike Topp (bass). Those of you that saw them at The Bullfrog in 2013 will no doubt be back! Drawing upon influences from SRV, Etta James, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore, Free, King King, Santana and Derek Trucks, the band have developed their own style of writing. The band won `Best New UK Act' 2014 via the Writers Poll for "Blues Matters" magazine, and in September 2015 were runners up in the `Emerging Artist' category of the British Blues Awards -and Alex Butler was also runner up for `Young Artist Of The Year`. In October 2015, the band won the 2nd UK Blues Challenge, and will represent the U.K. at the European Blues Challenge hosted in Italy in 2016. A track from their 2012 e.p. was played on Paul Jones' on Radio 2 Blues Show, and another was included on "Classic Rock -Blues" compilation album. Their full debut album `Freedom Bound' was released in 2014 - a follow up album is imminent. Red Butler have performed at top festivals throughout the country including The Great British R & B Festival at Colne, the Skegness R & B Festival, Crawley Blues Festival, Broadstairs Blues Bash, Blues on the Meadow, and Uckfield Blues and Roots Festival. They've also played high profile support slots, including Dr Feelgood, (twice!) Larry Miller, Stevie Nimmo, Jo Harman, Paul Jones & Dave Kelly, Chantel McGregor and Aynsley Lister.
