CURVED AIR, one of the greatest British progressive `70's rock bands, are appearing at The Cellars at Eastney on 11th October. The band will feature original members Sonja Kristina - voted "Top British Female Vocalist Of The 70's" - and Florian Pilkington-Miksa on drums, and from their second line-up the brilliant electric violinist/keyboard player Eddie Jobson. They'll be joined by Kit Morgan on guitar and Rob Harris on bass, to complete the present line-up. Due to the sensual vocals of Sonja Kristina and Darryl Way's romantic violin. Curved Air were often thought of as a British progressive-rock version of California's It's A Beautiful Day (who have also appeared at The Cellars!). Curved Air's first three chart breaking albums are all-time classics -1970's "Air Conditioning" contained "Vivaldi", their most celebrated piece, whilst 1971's "Second Album" produced the hit single "Back Street Luv". Their artistic peak was reached with "Phantasmagoria" (1972). After 1973's "Air Cut" (1973), original member Francis Monkman left, and Eddie Jobson (a former member of Roxy Music, Yes, U.K., and Jethro Tull) took over on violin and keyboards. Curved Air have performed many prestigious venues in recent years, and festival dates include The Isle Of Wight Festival in 2008 and The High Voltage Festival in 2011 -but you can see them "up close" at The Cellars! CURVED AIR are appearing at The Cellars at Eastney , 56 Cromwell Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO4 9PN on 11th October. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Advance tickets are £16. Their opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-3pm Tickets will also be available directly from the door staff at the venue from 7.30.p.m on Tuesday 7th, and 8 p.m on the 10th when the venue will be opening for other gigs.
