This Thursday - 5th June - we're delighted to welcome THE KEVIN BROWN TRIO to The Bullfrog Blues Club for the first time. Kevin Brown has been playing blues guitar since 1964, specialising in slide guitar. His first album, 1983's . 'Road Dreams'.was released by the legendary Joe Boyd on Hannibal Records . In 1984 Kevin formed the Hawaiian influenced band '5 Guys Named Mo', although 'Rust', Kevin's second release on Hannibal, Kevin used mainly the cream of local musicians from his native Bath. The next album 1999's 'Time Marches On' was produced by Van Morrisons' producer Peter Van Hooke for the Chrysalis label and featured top musicians including Paul Carrack, Clem Clempson, Mo Foster, Alvin Lee, Rabbit Bundrick, Pete Thomas and Adrian Utley. Two songs were co-written with Alvin Lee, and two more with Roger Cook. However, the Chrysalis label label was sold to EMI shortly after the record was in the can, and was released on Taxim, an EMI "spinoff" label. The instrumental album "Sunny Side Up" was to be released on Hannibal; but the company was bought out by Rykodisc and it was finally released on Doodah Records. During this period Kevin met Mark Knopfler, who invited him to guest on his album "Golden Heart". In the summer of 2001 Kevin's solo acoustic album 'Mojave Dust' was released to ecstatic reviews, and ever evolving, Kevin become friends with Moussa Kouyate, a master Kora player from Senegal, and toured the UK and Europe with him. They later released the live recording "Kora Blues' "Tin Church", the follow up to "Mojave Dust" was released to wide critical acclaim in 2005, and the year 2010 saw the release of two albums - "Slideville" featuring featuring Kevin on slide guitar, lap steel, dobro and Weissenborn, and the slide guitar album "Abundance". 2011's "Home and Dry" -released as The Shackdusters - was recorded with uke player and multi instrumentalist Gary Rudd and Kevin Brown on Weissenborn/slide guitar, supplemented occasionally with bass. In 2012 The Shackdusters also released 'Home for Christmas', again with Gary Rudd on selected tracks, with special guest Ben Powell appearing on the Kevin Brown original "Giant Steps'.
