As many of you know, I'm a sucker for Celtic music (well I would be, living in Ireland....) and also bluegrass & Americana... I've recently become aware of a fine Brighton based band called Barber, Taylor & Reed. They play original acoustic folk and blues with bluegrass/ country/celtic flavours. As some of you on this mailing list live not too far from Arundel, Brighton or Brighton, I thought I'd share the following with you..... Friday August 17th (4.00pm) Barber, Taylor & Reed are playing at the Arundel Festival,. On Thursday August 23rd (7.00pm) they're playing at the Angel Hotel in Midhurst - it's a ticketed event, with a two-course barbecue as well as fine music! On Sunday September 16th (8.00pm) they're playing the prestigious Brighton venue The Komedia. "Their new CD Pilgrim's Postcard is a combination to savour with critically observant lyrics, harmonies so close that not a gap shows, intricate arrangements and accomplished musicianship – buy it you’ll love it." Tim Carroll, "Folkworlds". Broadstairs Folk Week "However you attempt to classify them, Barber & Taylor are a superb acoustic duo it’s that simple." Tim Carroll. 'Folkwords' ".......sound like the greats of harmony and duet singing; picture Townes Van Zandt and Emmylou Harris or even Johnny Cash and June Carter and you have a fair idea of how these guys sound." Maverick Magazine. "BARBER, TAYLOR & REED delivered a world-class mixture of genre-spanning fine musicianship and vocal harmonies! Kevin Barber & Mark Taylor are long-standing friends of the Willows, and with the addition of Amy Reed on fiddle, their already amazing brand of acoustic roots and Americana has been kicked up to a whole new level!"
