I've just spoken to Jackie Leven's partner and soulmate, Deborah Greenwood. I am devastated to report that Jackie Leven died at around 8 p.m last night. Deborah was with him. It appears that the big feller certainly fought to the end and lasted a lot longer than anyone would have expected. To paraphrase Dylan Thomas he certainly did NOT go gently into that dark night..... Deborah tells me one of the last things he did was to move his bed sheets slightly as if he was about to get up and say to her "Let's go for a drink"... Pure Jackie - raise a glass with that man tonight, wherever you are....
