Jackie Leven.. sad news.....

As many of you know, I have always been a great admirer of the wonderful singer songwriter & guitarist Jackie Leven, who has appeared at many Barking Spider gigs, become a fixture at Southsea Folk & Roots Festival.

Over the years  I've been privileged to count Jackie as a good friend, and have spent many a happy  hour in his company. 
 
When Jackie arived to play Southsea Folk & Roots Festival this year, many of you - including me-  were amazed by the amount of weight he'd lost in a short time.   

I'm devastated to report that it appears that the reason for this appears to be that Jackie had been  diagnosed with cancer. 

He's had an operation but  is now in hospital  suffering with internal bleeding.   but the outlook is not at all encouraging. It seems that he many only have days to live.
 
If you knew Jackie, I'm asking you  pray to whatever higher spirit you  believe in......
 
To quote the big man himself ....  'The Mystery of Love Is Greater Than The Mystery of Death".
