JASON RINGENBERG is one of the top artistes is the country rock sub-genre of Americana, and it's a rare treat to see this great artiste in intimate surroundings, like the Gun Room at The R.M.A. Tavern in Cromwell Rd., Southsea. While Gram Parsons may called the grandaddy of "alt country". it was Jason Ringenberg who brought the music- to the stages of the world with a vengeance. Born and raised on a pig farm in Illinois, Jason moved to Nashville in 1981 & formed an acoustic country/punk band - Jason ands the Scorchers .Their 1983 album "Fervor" was embodiment old time rock and roll energy, punk swagger and grit and country music's elegant excesses and won them fans worldwide. After Lost and Found was issued in 1985, Ringenberg had become a major concert attraction all over the globe. The band disbanded in 1990 and Ringenberg became a solo performer. Although The Scorchers reunited in the mid 1990s Jason did not give up his solo career, however, and recorded the acoustic masterpiece, "A Pocketful of Soul" in 2000 as well as the rollicking "All Over Creation" in 2002, which featured guest appearances by Steve Earle, Lambchop, The Wildhearts, BR549 and Tommy Womack, amongst many others - all great admirers of Jason's music. Jason continues to be a very successful solo act when not playing with the Scorchers; he's toured the world three times in the 21st Century alone. In October of 2003, Ringenberg tossed everyone a curve ball by recording and releasing his first children's record on the entitled "A Day At The Farm With Farmer Jason". Don't miss this amazing artiste who appears at The Gun Room at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd., Southsea on Wedesday 10th August.
