Two brilliant gigs at The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Road , Eastney, Portsmouth this week - and they're both free entry! On Thursday 30.9.10 you can see the one and only STOMPIN' DAVE ALLEN, performs American roots music on guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, piano, harmonica, vocals - and tap dancing! Dave specializes in American roots music including old-timey, bluegrass, blues, country blues, folk, vintage country & hillbilly. He's a fixture at Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, and also Glastonbury Festival (he's appeared there three rimes!!) - and The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, so we’re delighted to have him back! http://www.stompindave.com He's a fixture at Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, and also Glastonbury Festival (he's appeared there three rimes!!) - and The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, so we’re delighted to have him back! http://www.stompindave.com http://www.stompindave.com www.myspace.com/stompindave www.myspace.com/stompindave On Saturday 2.10.10 it's MARY JANE, who play a highly original blend of acoustic & electric psychedelic folk-rock. Their music is a very individualistic & varied combination of self-penned & traditional material, with strong Celtic, Eastern & Medieval influences. Albums include ‘Hazy Days‘, ‘The Gates of Silent Memory‘, ‘Tacit’, and ‘To The Prettiest One’ on the German September Gurls label, but they've just been signed to the prestigious roots label Talking Elephant, and their new album is imminent! Mary Jane’s energetic stage shows have also become an increasingly popular live attraction at various festivals throughout the Southern UK during recent years, and - like Stompin' Dave - they're a fixture at Southsea Folk & Roots Festival. They've appeared twice at the Cropredy Fringe Festival now, and it looks like they're going to be a fixture there too! . www.mary-jane.info Their music is a very individualistic & varied combination of self-penned & traditional material, with strong Celtic, Eastern & Medieval influences.
