On Saturday 16th October the great Detroit blues band P-A-U-L appear at The RMA -Tavern in Cromwell Rd., Eastyney - and admission is FREE!!! P-A-U-L (short for Paul Andrew Ulysses Lamb) was born and raised on the streets of Harper Woods, on east side Detroit. His life was forever changed when his father bought him a Jimi Hendrix album for his birthday, and before too long he was soaking up other influences like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bob Seger, Johnny Cash and Johnny Winter. After high school, Lamb caught a bus to Hollywood, Los Angeles, where he was exposed to some of the West Coast’s most notorious rockers. After honing his voice and guitar skills, Lamb picked up his trusty axe and hit the road. In the mid-nineties, P-A-U-L fronted the Glory Revival, an eight-piece Phoenix, Arizona band. Lamb wrote and produced all of the band’s material, and they would soon get signed and record two albums in Detroit. P-A-U-L then began playing regularly with the Ethan Daniel Davidson 5 and Detroit Red Wing Darren McCarty’s Grinder. Around that time, Lamb formed his own band, P-A-U-L & the Harper Woods Heroes, and 2007 saw the release of his debut solo album Hangin’ On For Dear Life. Subsequent tours of the USA and Europe would help spread P-A-U-L’s name across the globe. P-A-U-L’s Gunshot Lullaby saw the light of day in 2009, which continued to expand his fan base. Rustbelt owner and legendary producer Al Sutton (Kid Rock) provided the final mixes. U.K.'s "Classic Rock" magazine called the album“fresh, streetwise and exciting” P-A-U-L and his band, which currently features Layla Hall on drums and backing vocals and Joey Spina on bass, spent the rest of 2009 supporting blues-rock legend Walter Trout in the UK and touring with Joanne Shaw Taylor. The band played Glastonbury Festival this summer, and P-A-U-L plans to record his third album later in the year. www.p-a-u-lmusic.com www.myspace.com/paullamb Music starts around 9 p.m. Don't miss this one!
