Top Irish singer/songwriter Robin James Hurt performs at the Auckland Arms, 13, Auckland Rd West, Southsea, Hampshire, PO5 3NY, on the evening of Good Friday. Entry is free. It's a warm up to two appearances at the wonderful GOSPORT & FAREHAM EASTER FESTIVAL, where Robin will be performing at The Lyssess Hotel in the High St, for a teatime gig -and also a late night gig. Check out the festival on http://www.gosportfestival.co.uk/who.html Those of you that saw Robin James Hurt at The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival last year were no doubt impressed... those of you who didn't, read on..... Born in Belfast, raised in Scotland and living in Dublin for many moons now, Robin James Hurt plays guitar like a 'demon gadgie' (Edinburgh slang) . He also sings like a wee bird, picks a mean mandolin, and composes and arranges fine music. In 2006, having spent 13 years as a professional guitarist, touring and recording worldwide with all manner of Irish and Scots artists and bands, Robin James Hurt finally found his own voice through his long-held passion for folk music. Regular solo performances quickly drew considerable interest in Ireland and abroad. The close of 2008 saw Robin launch his highly anticipated first solo album, "The Tallyman's Lament" , a treasure chest of rich, rare folk melodies and stunning original musicianship, recorded in Dublin with some of the finest new traditional musicians of Ireland. With "The Tallyman's Lament" picking up enthusiastic press and radio play - and with concerts in the USA, the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Germany and the UK, as well as in every corner of Ireland - Robin James Hurt is now enjoying a VERY busy 2010 performing his unique brand of fiery acoustic Celtic music!
