AN SEISIUN & JACKIE LEVEN celebrate St. Patrick's Day (Weds 17th March) in Southsea!

THE ST PATRICK'S DAY GIG OF THE YEAR (...if you know what I mean...) is AN SEISIUN on St Patrick's Day (naturally...) - Wednesday 17th March at South Parade Pier, Southsea, where the band share the stage with the wonderful JACKIE LEVEN!

It's a double celebration, as it's also the tenth anniversary of the very first Barking Spider Promotion, which just happened to be..
AN SEISIUN on South Parade Pier on St Patrick's Day 2000!

AN SEISIUN were formed as a semi acoustic spin-off from the Celtic rock band MOTHERFOLKERS, and led by mandolin maestro Pete Clark they play a highly original "kck ass" hybrid of trad Irish, old timey, rock and everything else!

THE MOTHERFOLKERS are no more, but AN SEISIUN are MUCH more....Pete Clark - mandolin; John Roberts: vocals, spoons; Graham Jones: guitar; Greg" Gregory; bass; .Andy James: whistle & fiddle; Stacey: fiddle; Paffs: bodhran & percussion; Chris Smith: washboard & percussion and Carl Jacobs: congas.

Although Pete & John now live In County Galway, Ireland, they've decided that Southsea is the place to be for St Pat's!

Very special guest JACKIE LEVEN started out in clubs and bars playing his own compositions, and in 1978 became a founder member of Doll By Doll, a controversial live act, who made five critically acclaimed albums before accepting they just weren't meant for those times, and regretfully going their separate ways in 1982. The albums have been recently re-released, and have received rave reviews .

Jackie later started on a solo career, releasing “The Mystery Of Love Is Greater Than The Mystery Of Death” te first of a string of excellent Cooking Vinyl albums have followed, given him a big cult following, buoth under his own name and his alter ego, Sir Vincent Lone.

Jackie's latest album, "Gothic Road", has just been released. Unfortunately there is no governent health warning to alert purchasers to the fact that John Roberts, of AN SEISIUN (and the man behind Barking Spider), plays spoons on the title track....

Don't miss this one, doors at 8 p.m. Tickets just £7 on the door - The Albert Tavern, South Parade Pier, Southsea.
