We're delighted to announce that the amazing KING KING, featuring Alan Nimmo (formerly of the Nimmo Brothers) are at The Bullfrog Blues Club on South Parade Pier, Southsea, on Thursday 4th March. DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!!!! Alan Nimmo formed KING KING last year, and since then the band have barely stoppedfor breath, pushing boundaries to craft a fresh, powerful new angle on bluesrock, with live showsgenerating more of a roar than a buzz. Fronted bycharismatic bluesman Alan Nimmo, their debut at lastyear’s Monaghan Blues Festival (Ireland's top blues festival) created such a stir that the organiser stated “King King aren’t justplaying the festival. Word is that King King ARE the festival”. (They're back at Monaghan Blues Festival this year, needless to say!) With areception like this, there’s little surprise that the phone has beenringing off the hook ever since, and after a frenetic 2009 thelads are currently gearing up for a hectic 2010 schedule of gigs and festivalappearances, including Glastonbury Festival. With outstanding reviews and a diary fit to burst, KING KING somehow found time to get into thestudio, tov record their debut E.P. ‘Broken Heal’. Produced by the team behind the Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and theEditors (to name but a few), the EP instantly received a gleamingreview from 'Blues Matters' magazine. (Listen to tracks on the Myspace site, www.myspace.com/kingkingblues). Theband had barely left the studio when they began to receive airplay onradio stations in the UK, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, India, Canada andthe USA. Meanwhile, the organisers of 'Blues On The Farm'festival laid their hands on a copy and were so impressed that theymade room for KING KING - despite having already filled the bill!. KING KING also played Maryport Blues Festival, (following Jethro Tullon the main stage before an audience of 22,000), the Shetland Blues Festival, whlst European appearances included a headline slotat the Hookrock Festival. Front man Alan Nimmo is widely known across the UK and Europe for his pivotal role withthe award-winning Nimmo Brothers. His full-blooded style, technicalbrilliance on guitar and impassioned vocals are legendary. Bass player Lindsay Coulson has played in The Aynsley Lister Band as well as The Nimmo Brothers, whilst Bennett Holland on keyboards has worked with aplethora of names including Groove Armada andRichard Hawley. On drums we have Craig Blundell, recently described by'Drummer' magazine as “one of the UK's most versatile and staggeringlytalented players”. With this lineup of top-shelf musicians, KING KING drawtheir inspiration from the best in the business, ranging from legendarygreats such as B.B. King and Albert Collins to contemporary blues performers like Joe Bonamassa and John Mayer. They're at Glastonbury this year - but you can see 'em at The Bullfrog Blues Club for a trifling £8 - book now, or take your chances on the door. More information on www.myspace.com/kingkingblues.
