On Thursday 16th April Sean Taylor appears at the RMA Tavern, 58 Cromwell Road, Eastney, This is a gig well worth attending - Sean has just been confirmed as support for John Fogarty - the 'main man' from Creedence Clearwater Revival- in Switzerland in July. Sean Taylor grew up surrounded by the music that blossomed in the late 60’s and early 70’s, and was drawn into the music of The Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers and Solomon Burke, John Martyn, and the Beat sensibilities of Tom Waits. The guitarists he veered toward were the old blues players, in particular Skip James, and the playing of JJ Cale and BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan Tony Joe White, Martin Simpson and Preston Reed. His live performances have always been influenced by musicians such as John Martyn, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie Havens, Neil Young, Steve Earle and Gillian Welch. So.. if it's good enough for Creedence- it's good enough for Pompey!
