Ex Long Ryder Sid Griffin brings his alt-bluegrass band The Coal Porters to The Studio @ The Petersfield School, Cranford Road, Petersfield, Hants, GU32 3LU on Saturday 25th October. Some of you may remember a great night with this superb band at The City Bar in Guildhall Walk, when Barking Spider promoted them - our good friend Ken Brown shows great taste in bringing this fantastic band back down south! The Coal Porters are an acoustic act with attitude, and the UK's most entertaining bluegrass ensemble. A hugely listenable cocktail of bluegrass, folk and country, described recently as a cross between The Clash and Bill Monroe! Sid Griffin is a multi-faceted musician, author, broadcaster and a great expert on American music. He recently published Million Dollar Bash: Bob Dylan, the Band, and the Basement Tapes, a 94,000 word book about these legendary 1967 recordings.
