TONIGHT (Weds Oct .1st) - MICK PINI BAND at Bullfrog Blues at The Cellars!

TONIGHT - October 1st, The Bullfrog Blues Club are honoured to welcome the fabulous Mick Pini and his band to the Cellars at Eastney.

Mick has previously appeared at The Bullfrog at South Parade Pier on two occasions, which are still talked about!

When you see Mick Pini live you are guaranteed the real deal; no pedals, no effects, just a rare '54 Strat stroked played by a bluesmeister who makes it plead, bleed, sing, scream, cry and smoke...  With a life time in music you’ll hear echoes and influences from the whole tradition of the blues in Mick’s playing. His uncompromising adherence to a genuine belief in his music has never been deflected. Those distinctive raw, attacking riffs and phrases, often reminiscent of such legendary names as Freddie King, Albert Collins or T-Bone Walker hit you with aggression like a ton of bricks, then in a moment, he’ll melt your heart with a sweeping phrase of pure beauty.

Since Mick started playing guitar back in 1960 he’s worked with Doctor Ross, Professor Longhair, Rich Grech, Mojo Buford, Louisana Red, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Chris Farlowe, Mike Vernon, BB King, Luther Allison – and many others.

Currently based in Germany, Mick has more recently worked with Roy Estrada (Little Feat) and Jimmy Carl Black (Frank Zappa) as the guitarist for The Jimmy Carl Black Band.

Perhaps the most telling tribute is the fact that when Mick is in town, Mick Double, Eric Clapton’s manager canregularly be found at the back of the
room, quietly enjoying Mick’s set. Not surprising, as Eric Clapton has described Mick as the “legitimate successor to Peter Green”.....

Here's some more tributes from his peers.....

Dick Hextall Smith - "I haven't heard anything like this since I did the John Mayall 'Beano' album with Clapton in 1966" .

Sherman Robertson - "You're the first white blues player I've met with a black feel".

B.B.King - "Great man, I like it!".

Luther Allison - "Man, we´re going to have to get together".

Dr Ross - "Man, I love your playing.

Ian Parker - The best live Blues player I've ever seen a -big influence!"

Sam Kelly - He's an animal! Great to be on stage with!

Maggie Bell - "Keep playing them blues, Mick!".

Roger Chapman - "A great player".

Mick Avery (The Kinks) - "A real great player".

Mick Vernon: "Mick has the energy and attack that made Freddie King one of the
greats. He's one of the few who have the potential to make a mark in a way Peter
Green did many years ago.”

Ann Nightingale - "Absolutely brilliant."
