MEGSON at The R.M.A. - Sat. 22nd November.

Award-winning folk / roots duo MEGSON (aka Northerners Stu Hanna and Debbie Palmer), make a welcome return to Portsmouth on Saturday 22nd November, when they play in The Gun Room @ The RMA Tavern, Cromwell Road, Eastney.

With three albums under their belts, MEGSON are fast making waves amongst the British folk / roots scene with captivating songs, beautiful harmonies and impeccable musicianship.

MEGSON's 2007 album "Smoke Of Home" received critical acclaim across the board with a host of strong reviews, including influential fRoots magazine - "This is first rate! If you don't like this music then you have a problem".

It also gained radio airplay from DJ's such as BBC Radio 2's Mike Harding and Bob Harris. The latter invited them to perform an exclusive session at the BBC, and  commented at the end  "How gorgeous was that? Absolutely beautiful".

The biggest strength of MEGSON however, is their stunning live performances. The duo have played at all of the UK's top folk festivals, including Cambridge, Gosport and Fareham, Cropredy and Shrewsbury amongst others.

They also toured with Seth Lakeman on his post-Mercury nomination tour, and with roots duo Show Of Hands in the UK and Europe. Seth Lakeman himself said of the duo "For my money, MEGSON are amongst the most exciting trailblazers of British contemporary folk".

2008 sees the talented twosome touring the country in support of their latest release "Take Yourself A Wife", of which a 4 star Guardian review said "This album places them in the Major League....a subtle and intriguing set".

Tickets (£8)  available from organiser Ken Brown on 02392 382888 or e-mail kenbrown1@tinyworld.co.uk. to reserve.
