Weds 2 July at BULLFROG BLUES AT THE CELLARS AT EASTNEY - BAD INFLUENCE

BAD INFLUENCE - Weds 2nd  July at BULLFROG BLUES at  THE CELLARS AT EASTNEY

One of the most popular blues band ever to grace the stage at The Bullfrog Blues Club at the Pier, BAD INFLUENCE make their debut at our new home, The Cellars At Eastney, in Cromwell Rd., Eastney, Portsmouth,  this Wednesday

BAD INFLUENCE were formed in 1986, by Val Cowell (lead vocals & rhythm guitar) and Richard Hayes (lead & slide guitar) The band also features an all star line up, with Harry James  (Thunder  and Magnum) on drums, Peter Stroud (Papa George Band and Peter Green's Splinter Group) and Bob Skeat (Wishbone Ash) on  bass. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of Val and Richard forming the band!

Ever since the beginning the band has toured constantly, playing in a wide variety of venues, including the now legendary Marquee Club on many occasions,. BAD INFLUENCE, and are also always in demand for blues festivals, and have played  "Blues On The Farm" and "Blues At The Fort" more than once.

Their first CD, entitled" Bad Influence", released in 1997, was  followed in 2000 by  'One Way Love', which achieved national  airplay on BBC Radio. A   live studio slot on The Paul Jones Show on BBC Radio 2 follows, as well as subsequent featured live concerts.

In 2003 Bad Influence releases their first Live LP - 'Here There and Everywhere Once' -  sales were phenomenal, helped along by the Radio 2 airplay.

"Closer",  released in 2005,  featured 11 brand new songs, all written by the band, and iss the strongest most cohesive recording to date, and shows the band is going from strength to strength.

Bad Influence are best  described as a rock and blues band,  but this band has many musical influences and it shows in just about every song performed. Val is often described as Bonnie Raitt gone raunchy or powerful like Janis Joplin. Richard squeezes every ounce of passion from the guitar, whilst Pete  and Bob  hold it very tightly together at the back.

The live show is exciting and packed full of both original songs and killer cover versions, with songs from artists as diverse as Tom Petty, Dixie Chicks and even Rory Gallagher. All are delivered in their own distinctive style, retaining the gutsy R & B flavour (in the old sense of the phrase) the band holds so dear.

Bad Influence have survived the perils of the live circuit for a number of reasons, but the most striking reason is quite simply because they're very, very good at what they do.

Check out  www.badinfluence.org.uk  and    www.myspace.com/badinfluenceorguk for more on the band.
