This coming Sunday, June 15th The Cellars, Cromwell Rd. Eastney - part of The Bullfrog Blues Collective - hosts a rare visit to Hampshire by top U.K bluesman JIM CRAWFORD As a discerning Barking Spider mailing list subscriber, Steve Pitt of The Cellars has kindly agreed that I can offer you two tickets for the price of one (usual price £6 per ticket ) if you mention Barking Spider... what a bargain -TWO TICKETS for SIX QUID!!! Jim is a very fine singer, guitarist and songwriter...but don't just take my word for it... Paul Jones (of The Blues Band and presenter of BBC Radio 2's Blues Show) describes Jim as ... "A superb performer, and a great songwriter" The great Washington D.C. bluesman Ben Andrews declares Jim "The finest Country Blues player in the UK" . Pete Baker, writing in 'Blues In Britain' said after Jim's performance at Maidstone's Bottleneck Blues Club.. One particular song that stood out for me was Mississippi Fred McDowell's "Brownsville", where the pounding bass lines and the whining slide kept up an infectious flowing rhythm that was truly excellent, the peak of the evening.
