He's had starring roles on television and in Hollywood movies, a No. 1 hit single and a further five Top 40 hits. John Leyton first found fame on TV in the 1960, when he appeared in the hit series ‘Biggles’. He then launched a pop career, which saw him top the charts with the classic hit ‘Johnny Remember Me’. Follow-up singles also made the top 40, including the No.2 smash ‘Wild Wind’. Hollywood beckoned, and John found fame in two iconic war movies. In ‘The Great Escape’, he played alongside Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen, as Willie the Tunnel King. He then appeaed with Frank Sinatra in ‘Von Ryan’s Express’. Further film roles followed. Throughout the years, John has featured in a string of popular UK television shows, including ‘The Bill’. He has enjoyed a resurgence in his film career of late, with roles alongside John Malkovich in ‘Colour Me Kubrick’ and a cameo in Nick Moran’s ‘Telstar the Movie’. Music still plays a prominent role, with rock ‘n roll tours alongside other '60s icons, including Craig Douglas, Marty Wilde and Joe Brown.
