This Wednesday - 3rd September - Bullfrog Blues Club at The Cellars At Eastney present SINNERBOY - a superb tribute to the genius that was Rory Gallagher. This is SINNERBOY's first time at The Cellars, but those of you who've seen 'em before at Bullfrog Blues Club gigs on South Parade Pier know you're in for a helluva gig ! Guitarist and singer Barry Barnes is one of Europe's most active enthusiasts working to keep alive the music and memory of the genius that was Rory Gallagher. The impetus to celebrate Rory's genius led Barry to form a tribute band with two like-minded musicians - bassist Dave Burns and, more recently drummer Steve Tansley. Both Dave and Steve are lifelong Rory fans, not just some rhythm section that Barry has cobbled together, and it shows! Together as SINNERBOY and driven by belief, enthusiasm and passion, it's the bands stated aim to be amongst the best Rory Gallagher tribute acts in the world. I certainly can't think of a better one! SINNERBOY are ever-present at all the major Rory festivals throughout the world and were Donal Gallagher's choice of band for the first London festival at Hammersmith (Donal calls them his favourite 'boy' band!) Playing live is what SINNERBOY do best. Anyone who has seen them will tell you, it's all about energy and passion, strong songs played with verve. But how else could you approach playing Rory's music? Their repertoire numbers over forty songs (and rising), with material from every20stage of Rory's career including his early days with TASTE. 'Walk On Hot Coals', 'Tattooed Lady', 'Shadow Play', 'Moonchild' and many more are the essential ingredients of every SINNERBOY set. And when at a Bullfrog Blues Club gig they always play 'Bullfrog Blues' - of course!
