GWYN ASHTON - rescheduled gig - appearing THIS WEDNESDAY at THE CELLARS AT EASTNEY

We're really sorry that GWYN ASHTON didn't apear at The Bullfrog Blues Club  at The Cellars at Eastney last week, but Gwyn was laid low  with food poisoning... He was hoping to be able to make it to the gig from his home in Milton Keynes, but at the 11th hour realised that this would be impossible.

BUT- the GOOD news is that Gwyn's rescheduled to THIS Wednesday, 27th August. Gwyn's appearing together with his drummer, DAVE SMALL - the biggest little blues band in the world! All tickets bough for last week's appearance willl be valid for this gig.

Just look at the results of the French magazine "Guitar Parts"  Guitarist of The Year" Awards 2001...

1: JEFF BECK  2: GARY MOORE   3: GWYN ASHTON !!!!!!
Blues Matters

Gwyn Ashton blends alternative blues and swamp boogie,  played on resonator, lap-slide, 12 & 6-string guitars, harmonica and  foot stomp board. He's influenced not only by the likes of Hendrix and the other rock guitar greats, but also ’30s Mississippi Delta blues, and includes bottleneck and lap-slide in  his performances.

At 'The Cellars' gig Gwyn will be performing with  drummer Dave Small, kicking  his roots-rock power duo into overdrive making creative use of fuzzed-out bottleneck slide, octave dividers, delays and loops and bringing the blues into the 21st century. Like a band possessed, Ashton’s fiery 2-man combo pull no punches and deliver the goods every time. These guys are Lo-Fi,=2
0analogue, wild and dangerous!

Ashton has delivered show-stopping performances at festivals such as The  Great British R & B Festival,  Maryport Blues Festival,  Prague Blues Festival and many others, including  co-headlining the Marseilles Blues Festival with Robben Ford. He's also opened for  Status Quo on their 1999 British arena tour (including Birmingham NEC and Wembley)

In 2000 Ashton recorded "Fang It!" with Gerry McAvoy and Brendan O’Neil, former Rory Gallagher rhythm section now with Nine Below Zero. The album was voted "Album of the Month" in the September issue of   "Guitar" magazine.

Gwyn  then fronted Band of Friends, replacing ex Motörhead guitarist Brian Robertson. This was a tribute to Rory Gallagher, with Gerry, Brendan, Lou Martin, Mark Feltham and Ted McKenna, who all played with Rory over the years.

He's  been highly acclaimed by such luminaries as Robert Plant, Johnny Winter and Eric Johnson, and played on stage with   Mick Fleetwood, Hubert Sumlin, Marc Ford, Jon Paris, Canned Heat and opened for BB King, Buddy Guy, Rory Gallagher, John Hammond, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Van Morrison, Pat Travers, Jeff Healey, Tony Joe White, Junior Wells,  Steve Morse and Albert Lee - and many others!

Gwyn also appears and gives tutorials in numerous guitar magazines  and  conducts master classes  (inc G.I.T. and Guitar X, London) as well as  performing live on radio and television worldwide
.

From supercharged four-on-the-floor rockers to gritty blues, Ashton's playing, songwriting and singing are in top form. This is in full evidence on his latest release, "Prohibition", whose guests include Chris Glen, Ted McKenna (Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Michael Schenker Group, Ian Gillan rhythm section) and Deep Purple keys man, Don Airey.  The album was voted Album of the Year 2007 by "Guitar & Bass" magazine, who had previously voted  Gwyn's "Feel The Heat" Album of the Month in October 1998

With a pedigree like that, you KNOW this is going to be a superb gig  - and tickets are just £8 (that's EIGHT pounds- you read it right!) - don't miss it!
