Railway Folk Club - next Monday (24th Sept) PETE COE - "a one man folk industry"

If you're talking about the British folk club scene of the 1970s, then the name of PETE COE will inevitably loom large.

And if you're talking about the folk club scene of the '80s it'll loom even larger. It's prominent in the '90s too and it's a name which is  synonymous with the grass roots scene through the  2000's too!

Singer, songwriter, melodeon, banjo, dulcimer and bouzouki player, bandleader, arranger, broadcaster, dance caller, teacher, step dancer, entrepreneur, folk club organiser, record label boss, sallow-faced wit, raconteur and all-round good guy, PETE COE in many ways represents the backbone of the modem folk revival.

Just look at these reviews!!

"A one man folk industry"
BBC Radio 2

"An industry? More a multi-national!"
Dave Tuxford, 'City Life', Manchester

"One of our most versatile and impressive performers".
Alan Bearman, Sidmouth International Festival

"Positively ebullient on stage, step-dancing whilst playing and singing."
Lawrence Heath, fROOTS

"Every aspiring young performer needs to watch this man whose driving, footstomping delivery on a variety of instruments and outstanding voice is an object lesson in regard-for-your-audience basics."
Paul Davenport, EDS Magazine

"One of the most committed, most versatile, most important folk artists in Britain."
BBC Folk & Acoustic Website Artists database

"He is simply the most entertaining & exciting performer about, giving so much value with sparkling enthusiasm for the music he purveys".
Andy Leith, "Traditions at the Tiger" , Long Eaton

PETE COE is at the Railway Folk Club  at The Alma Arms, 193 Highland Rd, Eastney on Monday  (24th September. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are just £5 on the door, or in advance  via our paypal based system on our website,  www.barkingspider.abelgratis.com.

Highland Road is the continuation of Southsea's Albert Road. The Alma's  function room has been completelly renovated and now has  soundproofing and a stage with an in house P.A.  This results in a comfortable venue capable of seating  100 or more people. Best of all, the room has an exclusive function room bar  where you can get a decent pint of real ale,  making The Alma Arms the  ideal venue for a folk club!
