As Victor Meldrew would have said - "I don't beleeeeive it!" Next Wednesday (19th September) THE MOVE are appearing at The Cellars at Eastney! This is the FIRST time that THE MOVE , featuring original members Bev Bevan (also of E.L.O. fame!) and Trevor Burton, will have performed together since 1968! (yep, you read it right!) The tour is dedicated to the late Carl Wayne, another original member of THE MOVE, and the other members of the band are drawn from E.L.O. and Roy Wood?s Big Band. This is an absolutely top class line-up. They?ve done two secret gigs before kicking off their national tour of theatres, and The Cellars are the exclusive 'secret' intimate tour opener, coinciding with the re-release of their back catalogue to mark their 40th Anniversary. (although I make it 41 years ..read on!) This is the very first chance to see them again, and possibly the ONLY chance ever to see them in a small venue!!! I'm letting The Barking Spider mailing list know, as you'd be kicking yourselves if you missed this! Tickets are going fast, so book now, or miss what promises to be one of the best gigs of the year! Unlike the theatre gigs, at The Cellars you'll be stood a few feet away from one of the most famous bands in rock 'n' roll history... Any old mods out there (like me!) will remember The Move have played in Eastney before - they were at The Birdcage Club (in Milton Road) on 16th Sept.1966 and again on the 15th April 1967 - and 40 years later, they're back in Eastney! Rock & roll, eh? The set list for The Cellars gig will be based around the songs they played during their 1967 residency in the Marquee Club in London and 1967's Birdcage Club gig, so you can be sure that they'll feature all THE MOVE classics plus other iconic songs from the era. 'Mojo' magazine feature THE MOVE this month with a 4 star rating - and why wouldn't they? Also, on the 30th of this month, Radio 1 celebrates its? 40th Birthday and as trivia nuts (like the Barking Spider) know, THE MOVE ?Flowers in the Rain? was the first record played on Radio 1 by Tony Blackburn. This is just too much nostalgia to pass up ! THE MOVE are at The Cellars at Eastney on Wednesday 19th September ? Tickets £22 advance or £24 on door (you should be so lucky - ring to check, but be prepared for disappointment!) Box Office : 023 9282 6249 (2pm-6pm) credit/debit cards accepted - or pop into the Cellars at your earliest possible chance.
