Hummingbird at The Cellars at Eastney on Sunday 28th October. On Sunday Portsmouth favourite Amy Wadge brings her band Hummingbird to the The Cellars at Eastney for the first time. Amy's released three superb solo albums of 'The Famous Hour' (2002 - produced by Greg Haver - Manic Street Preachers), 'WOJ' (2004), and 'No Sudden Moves' (2006), and in 2006 with Hummingbird, on their debut album, 'Tougher Than Love'. Amy is no stranger to Portsmouth, having appeared at The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival twice, has headlined at South Parade Pier, and appeared at Portsmouth Guildhall supporting guitar god Jeff Beck -part of a national tour which including two nights at The Royal Albert Hall. Other touring highlights for Amy have been supporting The Stereophonics, Van Morrisson, Lenny Kravitz and Marillion. Touring constantly throughout the UK, France, Singapore & Australia, she's played many major festivals including Glastonbury, Cambridge & Lorient in France. She recently travelled to the USA, playing a sellout gig at the prestigious Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. Amy has twice won 'TOP FEMALE VOCALIST' award at the Welsh Music Awards, competing against Charlotte Church and Cerys Matthews of Catatonia, and her songs have been used on BBC's coverage of The Olympics and drama series the 'Waking The Dead'. In Hummingbird, Amy is joined by Cathy Burton and Edwina Hayes. These talented solo artistes met on the UK festival circuit so many times over the last five years that they decided to form the band. Cathy Burton is a songwriter and performer who has released three albums; 'Burn Out' 'Speed of Love' and 'Silvertown'. on which Cathy wrote most of the songs, although some were co-written by Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue and Mark Kerr of Simple Minds. Cathy has toured extensively, not only in her own right, but with Ricky Ross, Kris Kristofferson and Paul Carrack, and has played at many festivals including Glastonbury. The third member of Hummingbird is Edwina Hayes, a singer/songwriter who has been a regular performer on the UK acoustic scene since 1999. Edwina's second home is Nashville where she is also highly regarded as a songwriter and artist. "Out On My Own', one of the tracks from her 2005 album 'I Want Your Love' was selected for the No.1 best selling album 'Acoustic Love'. Edwina has toured the UK with Van Morrison, Daniel Bedddingfield, Loudon Wainwright lll, Roy Harper, Tommy Emmanuel and Ricky Ross as well as playing no less than twentysix shows with Jools Holland, and three UK tours with Nanci Griffith,who describes her as 'a wonderful young woman, so gifted and full of song, with a voice that is sweet as the angels.'
