On of Portsmouth's favourite female singer songwriters, the fantastic AMY WADGE (you heard her in Portsmouth first at Barking Spider gigs, remember!) is at The Cellars at Eastney on Sunday 28th October, fronting the band HUMMINGBIRD. Hummingbird also features Edwina Burton and Cathy Burton. This year they were superb at Cropredy Festival. The Barking Spider Crew were there in force - and secured this booking at The Cellars! Although most of you discerning people on the Spider mailing list know who AMY WADGE is, you may not have heard of HUMMINGBIRD - yet. They've have been described "somewhere between Kirsty Macoll and a female Crosby Stills and Nash" , and are attracting serious attention, with regular airplay on Radio 2. Terry Wogan in particular has become a HUMMINGBIRD fan! In January 2006 HUMMINGBIRD released their debut album 'Tougher Than Love', a collection of eleven songs that really do show that a combined thirty years on the road, means practise makes perfect - and believing Richard Thompson to be a sex symbol is no shame! I shall be winging my way over from my home in Ireland for this one - I touch down at Gatwick on Sunday afternoon and get to Portsmouth in time for the gig - so what excuse have YOU got for not being there?
