At last! One of the Bullfrog's favourite bluesmen, KING ROLLO, comes back to Portsmouth!!!!! He's at The Bullfrog Blues Club acoustic night at The Alma Arms, Highland Road this Wednesday, 16th May. Breaking down the barriers of music and arts boundaries, singer/guitarist/songwriter KING ROLLO blends the traditional with the contemporary to achieve a distinctive watermark in acoustic roots music. In live performance this great character presents a unique and entertaining show which never fails to intrigue an audience. As well as his own finely crafted material, he also plays some wonderful gritty versions of some blues favourites. KING ROLLO has appeared on BBC Radio 2 and Yorkshire TV and makes regular appearances on local radio stations throughout the UK. ROLLO has four decades of performing experience throughout the UK, France and Spain. Notable appearances include festivals at Colne, Burnley, Banbury, Sheffield, The International Festival of Acoustic Blues in Madrid, The Bath International Guitar Festival. and of course, The Bullfrog Blues Club, Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, and the Isle Of Wight Roots Festival, organised by Barking Spider Promotions. His concerts have included support appearances for Eric Bibb, Michael Roach, Peter Green, Ian Siegal and Mojo Buford from Muddy Water's band. If you've seen KING ROLLO before you'll want to see him again - if you haven't - well, make sure you remedy that by coming along this Wednesday! For those of you who haven't been to The Bullfrog At The Alma yet (shame on you..) it's in the annexe at the back of the Alma Arms, and boasts it's own private bar and a separate purpose built stage, and is a great intimate little venue, staffed by the usual Bullfrog Blues Club/Barking Spider Crew. KING ROLLO appears at The Bullfrog Blues Club acoustic night at The Alma Arms, Highland Road Wednesday 16th May. Doors open 8 p.m. Tickets (£5) available on the door.
