JULIE FELIX at The Railway Folk Club, Alma Arms, Monday 12rth February!!!!!

The Railway Folk Club is back again at The Alma Arms, Eastney- opening with JULIE FELIX!

Barking Spider Promotions are delighted to announce that the much missed Railway Folk Club is starting again - after a four year absence - at The Alma Arms, 193 Highland Rd, Southsea. The first gig, on Monday 12 February, will be a BIG one, and features a household name.... - JULIE FELIX!

The purpose built function room has now been completely refurbished, and is now known as "The Raglan Rooms at The Alma".

We are indebted to Sooty Broughton, who ran the Ralway Folk Club for many years, for giving Barking Spider his blessing - and kind pemission to revive the name, The Railway Folk Club. We'll do our best to live up to his high standards.

The new landlord of The Alma Arms, Steve Otton is determined that the great days of The Railway Folk Club will will return, and has asked Barking Spider to run the club on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

So take this opportunity to meet (or meet again) Julie Felix, a true icon of the '60s and one of our greatest legends of folk/rock music. Julie continues into the fourth decade of her remarkable musical career with a new album, much of which will be featured on this date on her Forever Young Tour. Julie’s music has always resisted all labels and boundaries and her concerts are a joyous combination of her own original material, classic favourites by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and others, traditional Mexican folk songs and native American Indian chants.

Recently, Julie has performed with people as varied as Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Kiki Dee, Martin Carthy, Donovan, Bill Wyman, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, and Roy Harper. She performed on stage at the 2005 Respect Festival and is working alongside charities Christian Aid and Oxfam as well as MAG (The Mines Advisory Group) and Adopt-A-Minefield.
