For those of you who aren't familiar with here's some blurb on Andy Irvine....

Andy Irvine's 40-year musical career started  with  Sweeney's Men in the mid sixties. The band  topped the Irish Hit Parade with the  trad Irish songs "Old Maid in the Garret" and "Waxie's Dargle".

Later,  in the 70s, Irvine united with Christy Moore, Donal Lunny and Liam O'Flynn to form the enormously  successful  Planxty. They took a break in 1976, and  recent reunion tour saw sell out houses everywhere.

Andy Irvine  worked and recorded with Paul Brady, making the classic album "Andy Irvine & Paul Brady".

In the 80s, Irvine formed  THE Irish super group, Patrick Street, where Andy joined Kevin Burke (Bothy Band), Jackie Daly (De Danaan) and guitar maestro Arty McGlynn. They  released eight albums  on the Green Linnet label.

In 2002 Andy formed Mosaic, a band which included  Donal Lunny, and  American fiddler Bruce Molsky, a  band which still tours succesfully throughout the world.

Apart from that Andy Irvine  was  also as a member of  De Dannan, as well as collaborating with Davy Spillane. And then there's his his highly acclaimed solo work.....

So.... what about Jackie Leven then?

Jackie Leven is one of the great singer/songwriters of our time, as well as a brilliant and hilarious story teller. A member of the underated rock band Doll By Doll in the 1970’s, he later changed direction and became a solo artist.

His albums are all gems, and include guest spots from Mike Scott (The Waterboys), David Thomas (Pere Ubu), Robert Fisher (Willard Grant Conspiracy), Michael Weston King and many more.

Recently he has collaborated with top selling author Ian Rankin on a stage production of Rankin’s short story “Jackie Leven Said”, now out as a double CD . Jackie’s most recent CD “Oh What A Blow That Phantom Dealt With Me” has received universally rave reviews.
