"HALF LEGACY" at The Railway Folk Club On Bank Holiday Monday (9th April) there’s a treat in store for fans of Celtic band Legacy, when “Half Legacy” appear at The Railway Folk Club at The Alma Arms, Highland Rd., Southsea. Legacy gigs have by necessity. been limited to U.K & Irish tours, as guitarist Paul Burgess and flautist and vocalist Clare Sanders have moved to County Mayo in Southern Ireland, where Paul runs a successful recording studio. A recent tour of the West Coast of Ireland made the band many new fans when they brought their unique take on Irish music back to its spiritual homeland. In between tours Mal Simms and Tim Cotterell, who still live in the East Sussex area, have also kept busy. Fiddle maestro Tim has been accompanying folk wunderkind Martha Tilston, whose appearances include Glastonbury, Cambridge Festival, Guil-fest, and The Big Green Gathering, whereas Mal Simms,(who plays mandola, guitar, whistle and bodhran as well as being an excellent vocalist, has been pursuing a parallel solo career in between Legacy commitments. Recently he supported top Irish band Altan, who were full of praise for Mal’s perfoprmance. Mal & Tim will be appearing at The Railway Folk Club as “Half Legacy”, so expect a great night of virtuoso playing, with tunes and songs, including traditional material and Mal’s own compositons and interpretations. Half Legacy appear on Bank Holiday Monday (9th April), at The Railway Folk Club, in The Raglan Rooms at The Alma Arms, Highland Rd., Southsea. Doors open at 8.p.m.
