EDDIE WALKER- Bullfrog Blues At The R.M.A. Tavern, Eastney - this Thursday (21st)

EDDIE WALKER- appearing at Bullfrog Blues At The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Rd., Eastney, Thursday 21st September

Tees-sider Eddie Walker has been a fixture on the British acoustic scene for many years. He played his first paid gig back in 1967 and released his debut album in 1978 shortly before turning professional.

Along the way he has won major song writing awards, had regular spots on radio, appeared in numerous TV shows and played to audiences in folk clubs, Cambridge Festival (three times) and toured the world.

Just mention Eddie to any established guitarist on the scene today and unanimously they will sing his praises.

His recent album "The Blues Ain't Nothin'" collects together American blues, folk and ragtime, and with the exception of "Kinda Weary Blues" (on which Eddie is joined by John James), these songs come from legendary figures such as Mississippi John Hurt, Doc Watson, Blind Willie McTell and Big Bill Broonzy.

Eddie's affinity with these songs and his singing and playing are uniformly faultless. "Statesboro Blues" is a masterful combination of control and intensity, while "Picking My Way To Georgia" is a showcase for Eddie's deft finger picking style. "Nobody's Dirty Business" features some sparkling lead guitar from John James and is a wonderful re-working of the Mississippi John Hurt number. You don't have to be a blues purist to appreciate Eddie, and he's not out to impress fellow guitarists with flashy licks, but his performance will be enjoyed by anyone with a love of acoustic music.

Don't miss Eddie on Thursday at The R.M.A. - admission is FREE - and the beer's great!
