I found out today that The R.M.A. Tavern, Cromwell Road, Eastney, home of "Bullfrog Blues at The R.M.A.", will be temporarily closing down THIS SATURDAY - JULY 15th. Steve & Sally Pennick, the present licensees will be leaving the premises that day, and until a new licensee is found the pub will remain closed. It is not known if the music will continue - all this depends on the new licensees. ALL OTHER GIGS ARE THEREFORE CANCELLED. IF when the pub re-opens the new licensee wishes to continue the musicv- and assuming he/she will want me to continue booking, I will contact you all, but in the mean time don't hold your breath..... As you may or may not know, I have never taken a penny out of these gigs, either from the licensee or the artistes - all I have done is make the bookings to keep the music alive. The situation is entirely beyond my control, and as I am now livng in Ireland it is not easy for me to find another premises, either.... The last gig for the foreseeable future will thefore be ROBIN BIBI on THURSDAY JULY 13th. For those who don't know him, Robin is a superb guitarist, with a sparkling pedigree. He's blown the audience away at Southsea Folk & Roots Festival Blues Day and also at The Bullfrog Blues Club on The Pier. Come along and make sure you give a great send of to "The Bullfrog At The R.M.A." - entry, as it always has been, is FREE. "The Bullfrog At The Pier" will still be presenting top blues bands at The Pier on the first Thursday of every month. The next Pier gig will be The Jimmy Carl Black Band, on Thursday August 3rd 2006 The Jimmy Carl Black Band features Jimmy Carl Black himself (ex founder member of Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention) together with The Jimmy Carl Black Band's bassist Roddie Gilliard. They regularly appearon the Pier with the world's top Zappa tribute, The Muffin Men. The Jimmy Carl Black Band's line up is completed by the virtuoso guitarist Mick Pini, another Bullfrog Blues Club favourite. Doors open 8. pm Tickets are just £8.00 and are now available to buy online from http://www.barkingspider.abelgratis.com/html/tickets.shtml#bullfrog Cheers, and thanks for all your support.
