Another one bites the dust.....

John Adams, of Bottleneck Blues, is one of THE best promoters in this
country. I have the greatest respect, for John, for his unstinting enthusiasm in
bringing top blues artistes into the U.K. Check out his website,
_www.bottleneckblues.com_ (http://www.bottleneckblues.com/) .

John has been responsible for bringing to the U.K such superb performers as
BEN ANDREWS, LITTLE TOBY WALKER, GEOFF ACHISON, DELTA MOON, WATERMELON SLIM,
and many many more. He's always been welcome to the Bullfrog Blues Club.

Because of the dreadful apathy that exists in this country John has been
forced to give this up bringing artistes into the country, although he will
still continue to run two blues venues in Kent, (The Roffen, Rochester & The Jazz
& Blues Cafe, Maidstone).

Here's an e mail from John, which pretty much sums up the state of the
nation, after he'd ciurculated his mailing list to explain his reasons for packing
up.

Some of this really hits home on a personal note, but although I'm moving to
Ireland in two weeks time, I will ensure that the Bullfrog Blues Club WILL
continue, and hopefully go from strength to strength, thanks to the unstinting
enthusiasm of the rest of the Barking Spider Crew, and especially Pete, Andy
and Dan. I shall continue to return to the U.K on a regular basis and carry
out "business as usual" thanks to the wonders of the internet and the phone.

Right, here's an extract from John Adams' e-mail...

I've had over 100 emails & every single one expressed regret but they were
also very supportive. Many other club organisers & agents are facing the same
decision & not just in this country......we MUST find a new, younger
audience to replace all us old fogeys or this music will go further underground.
That would be a shame........the alternative is more mind-numbing "corporate"
music, supplied to you by accountants & performed by "artists" whose names
will be history usually within 6 mths.

At the gym over the past year or so I have been exposed, every morning, to
over 1 hr of MTV..... Not a pleasant experience! I feel sorry for anybody who
is suckered into this world of plastic-pop, manufactured by moguls in LA to
express a worrying brand of misogynistic sentiment, blaxploitation,
homophobia, sex & aggression..... all glossily packaged for a young audience by people
who just want to sell them something....clothing, phone-tones, drinks or
downloads ~ whatever.
Roots music...Jazz/Blues/Folk/World.....call it what you will is not like
that....

Amen to that. If you'd like to give John Adams a message of thanks or
encouragement, please e mail him on _blues@bottleneckblues.co.uk_
(mailto:blues@bottleneckblues.co.uk) .

Thanks!
John
