Bullfrog Blues Club, this Thursday (19th Jan) - SUNNYSIDE UP.

The Bullfrog Blues Club, Thursday 19th January: SUNNYSIDE UP.

Be prepared to find out what it must be like up in Heaven with Bob Marley
and Jimi Hendrix - at The Bullfrog Blues Club on Thursday, when Sunnyside Up
appear, ‘Jammin’ in the name of the Lord” .....

Sunnyside Up powerfully and succesfully mix Chicago blues and Jamaican
reggae, which lead singer and guitarist Tim Hain has dubbed "bleggae". Tim will
often improvise a lyric on stage, crafting it into one of the great
blues-reggae hybrids he excels at.

Tim Hain's passion and skill in 'roots' music has led to regularly working
with respected bluesmen Papa George, Robin Bibi, and Errol Linton, and when
Jeff Beck when he recently attended when one of Tim's gigs, Jeff was so
impressed he got up and jammed with him - praise indeed! Also, in San
Francisco, Tim has gigged with John Lee Hooker's daughter Zakiya Hooker, and also
Pete Sears of Jefferson Starship.
A Sunnyside Up performance features great versions of classic blues and
rock songs performed in a reggae style, by artistes such as Albert King, Jimi
Hendrix, the original (Peter Green's) Fleetwood Mac, Alicia Keys, and even
Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen have been known to get the Sunnyside Up
treatment!.
The band's dub workout of the Fleetwood Mac classic "Need Your Love So Bad"
has had repeated airplay from Paul Jones on his B.B.C. Rasio 2 blues show.
Tim Hain learned reggae from the source, touring as lead guitarist for Ja
maican stars such as Tyrone Taylor, Winston Reedy, Janet Kay and Carol
Thompson.. He has also opened for artists as diverse as Chaka Khan, Narada Michael
Walden, Tony Joe White, Curtis Stigers and Thomas Mapfumo, Zimbabwe’s finest.
The band also play pure reggae occasionally, from the likes of of Bob
Marley, Peter Tosh, UB40, Gregory Isaacs, Black Uhuru, Mighty Diamonds of Third
World.
Sunnyside Up's drummer, Prince, is an integral part of the band, and also
features on vocals from time to time. Often introduced by Tim as “the drummer
currently known as Prince”, he's a true born Jamaican Rasta with dreadlocks
to his knees, and when he's not playing with Sunnyside Up is also the
drummer/vocalist from top reggae band Misty In Roots.
Tim Hain has co-written with the likes of Narada Michael Walden,(
writer/producer for Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and George Michael), Maggie Ryder
("You're The Voice"); Kit Hain ("Dancing In The City"); Zakiya Hooker, daughter
of blues legend John Lee Hooker; and Dominic Miller (Sting's guitarist).

SUNNYSIDE UP are at The Bullfrog Blues Club, South Parade Pier, on Thursday
19th January. Doors open 8 p.m, tickets £7.
