Hi everyone, Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and a very happy new year, and a big thank you for all your support in 2006. The Bullfrog Blues Club /Barking Spider/Southsea Folk & Roots Festival team have done a great job (as ever) in 2006, especially since Rhona and I moved to the Emerald Isle in February. We've got a great year's music lined up for 2007, and not only will we present The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, The Bullfrog Blues Club at South Parade Pier Southsea and at The R.M.A. Tavern in Eastney, we're also organising all the Saturday nights gigs at The R.M.A. Tavern in conjunction with the new(ish) landlord, Kev Smith. Another exciting venture is to be working with Steve Pitt at The Eastney Cellars on occasional gigs in 2007- including The Chris Farlowe Band, John Otway, Clayson & The Argonauts and Dave Pegg with P.J. Wright. I'll be back in the U.K on January 4th and will be at The Bullfrog Blues Club at South Parade Pier, where I'm looking forward to seeig the great Robin Bibi Band, so I hope to see many of you there for the first of our 2007 gigs! March 1st's Bullfrog Blues Club gig at The Pier will be a very special one for me. The Deborah Bonham Band will be playing a memorial gig for my son Jamie, who sadly died on December 13th this year, aged just 27. He was a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and loved Debs and her music, so it seems a suitable gig to commemorate his life, and his passion for the BIG music. His funeral is on January 8th, and I shall miss him so much. Although not everyone knew what had happened, word seems to have spread, and thanks to all of you who e-mailed, texted, phoned or wrote for your sympathy. It's appreciated, and I was heartened that he'd touched the lives of so many people that had met him (albeit briefly sometimes) at various gigs. Also, thanks to everyone who actually managed to decipher my Irish address and send Xmas cards! Please forgive me for not sending cards to you all, but the reason is pretty self explanatory after you've read this far.... Once again, have a great Xmas and a brilliant new year helping to keep real music alive. J.R.
