What a great year of Blues at The Bullfrog Blues Club at South Parade Pier this year! As I've been living in Ireland since February, I've missed a lot of great gigs, but my last Bullfrog gig before leaving for the Emerald Isle, SINNERBOY - a Tribute To Rory Gallagher - was a brilliant night. SINNERBOY are simply the best Rory Gallagher tribute band in the world- and that's the official opinion of Donal Gallagher, Rory Gallagher's brother. So what better reason to have SINNERBOY back at South Parade Pier, Southsea, for our Xmas gig, the last of 2006... As a tribute to the greatest bluesman ever to come out of Irleand, I was privileged to see Sinnerboy on Rory's home ground, at The Roisin Dubh in Galway City last Sunday. SINNERBOY's original drummer, Steve Richardson, has now left the band due to domestic circumstances, so this was the first time I'd seen them with their new drummer, another Steve. Yet another great drummer, and a great foil to guitarist and vocalist Barry Barnes and bassist Dave Burns. A wonderful night, and the place was packed. Don't miss this excellent band at The Bullfrog this Thursday, 7th December. As an added bonus we've got Bex Marshall as support, an explosion of acoustic/rock/blues possessing guitar skills that have been likened to Stevie Ray Vaughan and vocals skills akin to Janis Joplin. Amongst her ardent admirers are Roger Daltrey of The Who! (Quote: "Where's she playing next?") Add to this The Gnome's Grand Xmas raffle, and we've a recipe for a great night!!! SEE YOU THERE!!!!!
