AN EVENING FOR MIKE WEST The Gaiety Suite, South Parade Pier, Southsea Friday 21st October 2005. A BENEFIT FOR MIKE WEST AND HIS FAMILY The great New Orleans based banjo player and songwriter MIKE WEST lost everything he and his family owned in the New Orleans disaster. Many of you will have seen Mike on more than one occasion. Mike opened for Country Joe McDonald on The Bandstand at Southsea in 2001, and has appeared at The Bullfrog Bliues Club, The Railway Folk Club, The R.M.A. Tavern, The Platform Tavern in Southampton and many other local venues. A real character and a great musician. He's toured here solo, with his ex-wife Myshkin and his current wife, Katie. Mike and Katie have two young children, and no-where to live - and even if they had nothing to put in the house has been saved. Mike lived too close to the river to get insured. Barking Spider have decided that it's appropriate to organise a benefit concert for Mike and his family. Local musicians are giving their services for free, and no expenses or payments will be made. Leisure Parcs U.K are giving us the hire of The Gaiety Suite (the large concert hall) at South Parade Pier entirely free of charge. PLEASE attend this concert and make it a success - and thank your lucky stars you weren't "lost in the flood" yourselves..... Artistes so far confirmed..... REET PETITE AND (possibly!) GONE - back together for just one more gig! FERRIS WHEEL NICK EVANS INSIDE THE RAIN We're also in negotiation for some VERY special guests to top the bill - these will be announced as soon as availablity has been confirmed. There will also be a sale of CD's, memorabilia etc. - please bring something along with you to donate to this rock 'n roll bring and buy sale!
