THE TUBES - back in Southsea 28th November!!!!

THE TUBES - back in Southsea!!!!!!!
If you missed The Tubes at the Pier last year on their "Wild West" tour, you
missed a superb nights entertainment, possibly one of the BEST gigs of the
year!!
The good news is that THE TUBES ARE BACK at South Parade Pier on November
28th on their "Cabaret Of Curiosities" tour.

The Tubes are one of the most exciting, in-your-face tight-knit group of
musicians who spoof popular culture with the ultimate rock'n'roll
extravaganza. Their live shows involve anything from mock bondage rituals, simulated
sex, to 12-foot high rock stars exploding televisions, chainsaws The Tubes were
15 years ahead of Madonna, and light years ahead of being politically
correct.
The Tubes don't simply entertain, they present a head-on theatrical
onslaught, taking popular culture by the scruff of the neck, turning it upside down,
and making it entertainment. .
The band originated in Phoenix, Arizona in the late '60s, and later
relocated to the post- psychedelic haze of San Francisco in 1972.
From 1972-1975 the band toured continuously. Word of mouth about the
electrifying live experience of the concerts travelled fast, and soon the Tubes
earned the reputation as the must-see rock'n'roll band of all time.
Tubes concerts feature the ever-versatile front man Fee Waybill adopting a
variety of larger-than-life personas including the crippled Nazi Dr.
Strangekiss, country singer Hugh Heifer, and the legendary Quay Lewd - an
androgynous drug-inflicted British pop star sporting an outrageous Ziggy Stardust
blonde wig and two foot high platform boots.
Great Tubes classics include the erotic fetish themes of 'Mondo Bondage',
the naughtiness of 'Don't Touch Me There', the hilarious quiz show parody
'What Do You Want From Life', and the ever-controversial anti-drug anthem 'White
Punks On Dope',
By the time the band's third album was released, The Tubes met British exile
and former promoter of the Isle of Wight Festival, Rikki Farr, who was
convinced the UK was ready for the Tubes. He persuaded them to tour the U.K. and
record a live album. One of the band's first concerts was to be at Portsmouth
Guildhall. However, it was banned by the council who, missing the tongue in
cheek element completely, decided that the band's repertoire was obscene,
Hmm...
However, The Tubes went on to sell out an amazing five-night engagement at
the Hammersmith Odeon in London, wherew they recorded the live concert album,
'What Do You Want From Live',
The Tubes highlight the absurdity of everyday life, occasionally shocking
audiences along the way, but more importantly, always making them think
twice. This is innovative rock theatre with consummate musicianship. Don't miss
this - it could be the gig of the year!
THE TUBES will be at South Parade Pier on Monday 28th November. Doors open
at 8 p.m and tickets are £12. Tickets will be on sale from Saturday (29th
October) at The Wedgewood Rooms Box Office (023) 9286 3911, Reflex Records,
