MIKE WEST BENEFIT at THE Pier - TOMORROW!!!!!!! (Friday)

AN EVENING FOR MIKE WEST
The Gaiety Suite, South Parade Pier, Southsea
Friday 21st October 2005.

The great New Orleans based banjo player and songwriter MIKE WEST and his
family lost everything they owned in the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

Many of you will have seen Mike on more than one occasion. Mike opened
for
Country Joe McDonald on The Bandstand at Southsea in 2001, and has appeared
at The Bullfrog Bliues Club, The Railway Folk Club, The R.M.A. Tavern, The
Platform Tavern in Southampton and many other local venues. A real
character
and a great musician. He's toured here solo, with his ex-wife Myshkin and
his
current wife, Katie. Mike and Katie have two young children, and no-where
to
live - and even if they had nothing to put in the house has been saved.
Mike
lived too close to the river to get insured.

Barking Spider and The Bullfrog Blues Club have decided that it's
appropriate to organise a benefit concert for Mike and his family.

Headliner is Bex Marshall, who recently supported Hayseed Dixie on their
entire U.K tour, supported The Country Joe Band at The Borderline in
London,
and was one of the hits of The Southsea Folk & Roots Festival 2005. Check
out
her website, _http://www.bexmarshall.co.uk/_ (http://www.bexmarshall.co.uk/)

Reet Petite & Gone will be back together for just one more gig, and band
members Dave Allen will also be performing with Ferris Wheel, whilst Nick
Evans of Reet Petite & Gone will also be performing with Gregg Buchanan as
Two
Believers. Southampton’s Inside The Rain will also be appearing.

Barry Everitt, of The Borderline Club, probably the best club in London, is
coming down to dj too, so a great night will be had by all. Barry is also
top dj on Borderline Radio.

There will also be a “bring and buy’ sale - bring a CD, or whatever you
like, and we’ll sell it or auction it! .(If you can’t make it but would
like
to donate something, please contact me on 07970 959793 or e mail
_spiderromos@aol.com_ (mailto:spiderromos@aol.com) .)

The ENTIRE ticket price will go to Mike West and his family.NO deductions
from the ticket price, all artistes have waved their fees. All the
musicians
are giving their services for free, and no expenses or payments will be
made. PLEASE come along to this one and make some money for Mike...

There will also be a sale (and maybe an auction) of CD's, memorabilia etc.
-
please bring something along with you to donate to this rock 'n roll bring
and buy sale!

Leisure Parcs U.K are giving us the hire of The Gaiety Suite (the large
concert hall) at South Parade Pier entirely free of charge. PLEASE attend
this
concert and make it a success - and thank your lucky stars you weren't
"lost
in the flood" yourselves....
