Hurrah for the Police!

Apparently a programme entitled "Traffic Cops" has been commissioned by
BBC South.

Filming starts tomorrow (26th September) for the next seven weeks. The
B.B.C. are working with Hampshire Constabulary'sTraffic Department, and will be
covering three areas.

Below are the four main areas that I understand will be areas used for the
filming.

1) M27 Ringwood area. up to M3 J9.

2) The ringroad around Southampton (I'm told Totton will have a unit working
this area alone).

3) M27 Cosham area, to J5 of the M27 (Southampton Airport turn-off).

4) Winchester Services covering M3 to J10 M3 (Winchester South)

If you use the M27 or the M3 this could potentially affect you, as it's
pretty obvious that there must be lots of dangerous drivers in those areas, so
it's probably best to keep your eyes open - just in case the Police aren't
around to apprehend these dreadful people to teach them the error of their
ways. .

I understand the Police will be using five unmarked cars, possibly two
Black Skoda 03 registration Octavias, an 05 plate dark red Mondeo and two Volvo
saloon cars. I'm told the BBC team will be using Citroen Picasso MPVs leased
from Arriva. So if you see any of those around you can pretty sure that you're
safe from dangerous drivers! And if you see any, you can always just point
them out to the Policemen!

Apparently the Southampton based BBC unit will also be covering the armed
police response unit and the Southampton Airport Police Security / British
Transport Police team.

To make it even more effective I am told that the Traffic police have
authority from Chief Constable Paul Kerneghan to "work to rule". So.... instead of
the laid back approach usually taken by Hants traffic police (in other
words, allowing Officers to use their discretion) it's very likely that they will
be enforcing law to the letter. And so they should of course, we don't need
 all this softly softly approach....

No doubt this will produce an interesting and thought provoking serious
programme, and is sure to elevate the lovable British bobby's standing in our
community. What a pleasant change from these programmes that provide dumbed
down quasi entertainment for the brain dead masses.

Wonderful! Every day confirms what I have always though about the wisdom of
Chief Constable Kerneghan. How gratifying that his brave pioneering spirit
will no doubt give the public even more confidence in how law and order
issues are now dealt with in Hampshire. And of course, traffic offences should
always be a priority over issues involving public order, vandalism, burglaries
thefts, and these so-called ASBO's!

I am sure that you are all law abiding citizens and wouldn't dream of
committing the smallest traffic misdeamour, so I am sure I do not have to remind
you to proceed with caution. Make sure you don't tell any of your more
reckless friends and family - they deserve all they get. Bring back the birch, I
say!

However, if you do intend to tell anyone, I would be grateful if you did not
reveal your source, as I'm naturally very shy......
