DICK GAUGHAN - ITV Documentary this Friday - & at the Pier 29th Nov.!

Dick Gaughan, one of the most important Scottish singers during the last four
decades, makes a rare appearance in the south when he appears at South
Parade Pier, Southsea, on Tuesday November 29th.
Make sure you tune into BBC4 on Friday night at 9 p.m., for the prime time
one hour documentary about Dick Gaughan, entitled " A Different Kind Of Love
Song".
"'The history books try to tell you what happened: folkk songs tell you what
it felt like to be there,' says the peerless Scottish folk singer Dick
Gaughan, an influential and brilliant artist who remains something of a best kept
secret. A specially recorded performance is intercut with interviews and
footage of Gaughan on the road and in his home town of Leith".
(From "The Knowledge", The Times critical guide to the cultural week.)
Dick Gaughan has released over 25 albums, and his songs have been recorded by
many top artistes, including Capercaillie, Mary Black and Billy Bragg.

Gaughan was also a member of the immensely influential Boys Of The Lough,
(together with the great fiddler Aly Bain), and also the classic folk rock
band Five Hand Reel, the Scottish equivalent of Steeleye Span.
Dick Gaughan appears in concert at South Parade Pier, Southsea on Tuesday
29th November. Doors open 8 p.m. Tickets (£9) are on sale now at Reflex
Records, Albert Rd., Southsea, South Parade Pier, and The Wedgewood Rooms Box
