What better gig for The Bullfrog Blues Club on St. Patrick's Day (Thursday 17th March) than Sinnerboy, a tribute to that greatst ever Irish bluesman, Rory Gallagher? And it's Barking Spider's fifth birthday too- five years to the day that the first Barking Spider was held at South Parade Pier, Southsea. In 1996 Sinnerboys's vocalist and guitarist Barry Barnes organised the first annual Rory Gallagher tribute gig at Dukinfield Town Hall, near Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire. making this the and the Now relocated in Sheffield, the annual gig has become established as one of the main events on the Rory calendar - and the longest running Rory Tribute in the world. It continues to grow and now 'The Rory Gig' attracts big audiences from throughout the UK and abroad. The same impetus to celebrate Rory's genius led Barry to form a tribute band with two like-minded musicians - bassist Dave Burns and drummer Steve Richardson. Both Dave and Steve are lifelong Rory fans, not just some rhythm section that Barry has cobbled together, and it shows! Together as Sinnerboy and driven by belief, enthusiasm and passion, it's the bands stated aim to be amongst the best Rory Gallagher tribute acts in the world, presenting a mix of hard-driving rock and mind- bending blues that Rory would have been proud of. Playing live is what Sinnerboy do best - it's all about energy and passion, strong songs played with verve.Sinnerboy are ever-presents at all the major Rory festivals throughout the world and were Rory's brother Donal Gallagher's choice of band for the first London festival at Hammersmith. Sinnerboy's repertoire numbers over forty songs (and rising), with material from every stage of Rory's career including his early days with Taste. Bullfrog Blues, Walk On Hot Coals, Tattooed Lady, Shadow Play, Moonchild and many more are the essential ingredients of every Sinnerboy set.
